Tissue Eng.

Research Activity

The IEIIT-CNR Tissue Engineering Group research activity concerns the development of systems and methods for tissue and organs regeneration/functional repair. It requires the design, modeling and testing of smart materials able to modulate the response of the desired tissue leading, in some cases, to the regeneration and formation of the degraded tissues, or to the perfect integration of the biomaterial and the recovery of the lost functionality. In parallel, it requires the development of specific bioreactor devices able to induce specific physical stimuli to create the proper micro-environment mimicking the physiological niche.
The work developed to reach our goal is intrinsically interdisciplinary, creating a direct link between different fields, such as bioengineering, materials science and physics.
