People - Coluccino Luca

Luca Coluccino was born in Genoa in 1987 and, after a scientific education at high school, he received the Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Genoa in 2009, with a thesis on “The interplay between cells and Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA): the surface hydrophilicity effects”. After he got the Master degree in Biomechanics and Biomaterials in 2012, discussing the thesis: “Design and development of a bioactive alginate based scaffold to induce a selective cellular differentiation”, made in collaboration with the National Research Council (CNR).
In 2012 he was Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Electronics, Computer and Telecommunication Engineering (IEIIT) of CNR.
Since January 2013 he is a Ph.D. student in the Doctoral School of “Life and Humanoid Technologies” at the Italian Institute of Technology, in the Nanophysics department: his research’s attention goes to the Biomechanics of bioactive materials for Tissue Engineering applications.

In 2013 he joined the IEIIT department of CNR as Associate Researcher where he has been working on the design, the development and the manufacturing of electromechanical devices in order to model and validate smart biomaterial for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine applications : project under the commission “ Machine Learning, Modeling and Growing up “.
