IEIIT Genova - History
The Genoa branch of IEIIT springs from the "Istituto per i Circuiti Elettronici (ICE)" of CNR. ICE was established in 1970 to carry out research in the field of circuit theory and applications, with particular attention to computer assisted measurements and modeling of microwave devices. In 1980 ICE became one of the computing centres of CNR, increasingly developing skills in information technology and computer science.
During years ICE was active in the following fields: modeling and optimization, machine learning, study and analysis of complex systems, nonlinear time series analysis, high performance computing, development and analysis of algorithms, computer security, computational biology.
Currently, the research activity of the Genoa branch of IEIIT is mainly focused on the topics: Cognitive Systems and Robotics, Computer Security, Machine Learning, Parallel and Distributed Computing. A multidisciplinary approach allows to obtain both theoretical and applicative results, through the coordination and integration of the different skills available. Moreover, IEIIT - Genoa manages the information network of CNR in Liguria.
