Luca Tavanti received the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering (2000) and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering (2007) from the University of Pisa, Italy. From October 1999 to April 2000 he was an intern at British Telecom plc (Ipswich, UK). From 2002 to 2004 he worked as software engineer for Commprove SpA (Florence, Italy), and from 2015 to 2024 he was Senior IoT Engineer and R&I Project Manager for Cubit Innovation Labs (Pisa, Italy). From 2007 to 2015 he was a PostDoc Research Fellow at the University of Pisa, and since February 2024 he is a Researcher for CNR - IEIIT (Pisa, Italy).

He has authored more than 30 articles in international journals and conferences, with main focus in medium access control and routing protocols, quality of service, and resource allocation for wireless networks. He has managed projects across various EU and regional programmes (Horizon Europe: EU-TRAINS, H2TRAIN, DUCA; Digital Europe: Tuscany X.0; Horizon 2020: EUPEX, POWER, UMI-Sci-Ed; EIT Manufacturing: CleanAirNet, ERDF: Sunrise, YI4.0).  

His current research interests are on the analysis, design, and evaluation of resource allocation and routing algorithms for wired, wireless and quantum
networks. He is also active in the analysis and implementation of environmental monitoring systems (IoT) for improving the quality of urban living (RAISE PNRR project).
