Communication and information technologies (ICT) for industrial use must satisfy peculiar requirements that cannot be found in other traditional applications. ICT infrastructures that have to work reliably 24/7, such as those found in automation and process control systems, smart factories and cyber-physical systems (CPS) in general, have to grant a very high degree of resilience, safety/security and real-time performance. CNR-IEIIT has the needed know-how and experience to study and develop advanced solutions for industrial computer systems and networks and to pave the way for a new generation of applications in these areas. In this framework, main research topics include (but are not limited to) digital twins, model-based s/w engineering, industrial cybersecurity, new generation WSNs, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) and real-time multicore embedded systems.
